As a budding cricketer, Mohammad Naveed used to complete a six-hour commute from Ras Al Kaimah to Dubai and back in order to attend net and training sessions. A raw fast bowler, he had pace, but little technique or accuracy, and a great deal of hard work was required before he forced his way into contention for the national side. His first tour with the full side was to the Netherlands for the World Cricket League in 2012, and his first-class debut followed less than a year later against Ireland, with Naveed opening the bowling. Naveed has few pretensions with the bat, and held the dubious honour of being the final wicket in Canadian seamer Jeremy Gordon's first-class hat-trick in an Intercontinental Cup match in 2013.
